9th September 2015 Meeting Summary and Highlights

We had an entertaining and diverse meeting on 9th September! A big thank you goes to Armelle for leading us through the evening as the Toastmaster.

With some technical glitches we switched the agenda around and started the meeting with table topics, followed by the speeches in the second half of the meeting.

Rowena let a humorous and informative Table Topics session all based on finance. The talks ranged from personal austerity measures in light of the 2008 financial crisis, over the reduction of the debt pile in the world, all the way to China’s growth reduction! Well done to all those that were called upon!

We had a full meeting with 4 prepared speeches.

Armelle’s speech ‘Violence against Women: Prevention is possible’ gave us some insight in the charity Armelle is supporting. We look forward to hearing more of it in October!

Anne gave her 7th speech and had us laughing throughout with her well researched speech about Game of Thrones.

Hari, our guest speaker from Bloomsbury Speakers had us hooked with his speech on Ancient Wisdom for Modern Living.

Anqi delivered her 5th speech and with her fairy tale ‘Sun Wu Knog – Uproar in Heaven.’ we were all drawn in the story.
